Thanks to their long and rich history as the premier family of hotels in Spokane, all the entities that make up the Davenport Collection — The Davenport Hotel, Davenport Tower, and Hotel Lusso, as well as the attendant restaurants and lounges — have received significant press coverage in both local and national publications.
All three hotels are located in downtown Spokane, Washington. The span of city blocks that surround them are renowned for their arts and entertainment, home to legendary venues like The Bing Crosby Theater.
The original historic hotel, which dates from 1914 and was fully restored to its early splendor between 2000 and 2002 by entrepreneurs Walt and Karen Worthy, is widely regarded as one of the grandest hotels in North America. Throughout the last century it has been a temporary home to numerous celebrities — and it has achieved some celebrity of its own through dishes like the Crab Louis salad.
The Davenport Hotel is especially renowned for its elegant and ornately decorated meeting rooms and ballrooms, which provide a unique ambiance for meetings, special events and weddings.
Perhaps more importantly, the entire Davenport Collection aims to provide world-class service in this exquisite environment at a price that is accessible to almost everyone. It is an egalitarian philosophy that began with the original proprietor, Louis Davenport, and continues to this day under the Worthys' stewardship.
The surrounding area attracts visitors in summer and winter alike. To meet and build on that demand, the hotels offer attractive packages and specials for active or leisure vacations and getaways.
DAVENPORT HOTEL’S RICH HISTORY
The Davenport Hotel opened in 1914 as a destination in its own right. It was to be a place where guests could experience a singular combination of world-class service, palatial splendor, and inviting warmth. Constructed in 1914 under the auspices of Louis Davenport, the Davenport Hotel has served as a beacon of culture and refinement throughout the region for the better part of a century.

THE DAVENPORT HOTEL: GRAND AGAIN
The Davenport Hotel, was the most modern hostelry in the United States when it opened in 1914. It was the first hotel with air conditioning, the first with a pipe organ, and the first with a central vacuum system. The Davenport Hotel shut down in 1985. But local entrepreneurs, Walt and Karen Worthy bought the hotel in 2000 and gave it a top-to-bottom renovation. The Davenport is grand again!
